Assessment of the results of National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) has been released in August 17th.Up to now, 298 projects submitted from Southeast University have been funded and the funding rates reached 21.93%.As for Department of Mathematics, 15 projects were funded, including 11 general projects, 4 youth projects with the project funding rate achieving 37.5%. The funds totaled 6,610 thousand RMB (direct cost). Compared to 4 projects in 2014 and 8 projects in 2015, the number of funded projects in 2016 has significantly improved. The number of funded projects and the total funds all reached their historical peak. In addition, a great progress was made in Jiangsu natural science fund compared with last year. 1 general projects and 4 youth projects have beenfunded and the funding rate arrived at 100%.
The outstanding achievements of the fund application in 2016 embody the efforts of the whole Department. Since New Year’s Day, mobilization of applying projects has been carried out and the application work of foundation has been discussed in department transaction meeting for many times. Nowadays, the fund evaluation has become increasingly fierce; the new breakthrough we made shows that the application work of foundation has been well-organized and the policy in scientific research is effective. It is worth mentioning that a number of young teachers obtained the fund of general projects.
In the future, our department will further improve the work of natural science fund application.Teachers will be more encouraged to grasp the frontier of science, extract significant scientific issues, highlight the original innovation, work out the challenge problems and strive for the goal of building a word-class university.
